Sneaky Dragon Episode 139

Sneaky-Dragon-Episode-139

Hola, Sneakers! This week we welcome Ian back from San Diego where he was attending Comicon, but before we get to that let’s just establish that Ian doesn’t remember the show and unicycles are weird and strictly for show-offs like juggling at a party. Also on the show this week: Dave has strong feelings about James Herriot books and some strange advice for children; Ian wonders if Evil Dave came on the show this week; Ian tells us about his trip to San Diego, including some car rental troubles (he wants to thank Sakura), Japanese toilets and sandwich-loving presidents; Ian and Dave wonder if Obama is the youngest president (he is not); Ian gives some props to Buzz Aldrin, the walking on the moon closing act; he also thinks Snowpiercer is a pretty darn good movie; Ian and Dave discuss the pros and cons of the San Diego Comicon; Ian has some gifts for Dave and Dave is quite happy about it; they answer listener Chris Kraemer’s question concerning the use of popular likenesses, then get in a discussion of the hows and whys of people taking pictures of each other; and, finally, they talk superhero movies and Dave vows to not see Guardians of the Galaxy (which he then did…twice).

If you’re curious, the youngest president was Theodore Roosevelt at 42, followed by Kennedy at 46 and Obama at 47. For an overview of laws concerning public photographs, read this. For more about the use of public likenesses for commercial purposes, you can check out this Wiki article.

Big thanks to Chris Kraemer for his kind words and for asking us a question. (We appreciate the grist for the mill, Chris!) And big thanks to Connie Moreno for taking time out of her valuable life to record and send us her thoughts about Sneaky Dragon. (So nice!) Connie is a co-host of the podcast The Disneyland Gazette, which is – as it sounds – a podcast all about Disneyland – both current news and the various park’s histories.

Thanks for listening.
