Sneaky Dragon Episode 145

Sneaky-Dragon-Episode-145

With Kathleen Gros! Yes, this week Ian and Dave are joined by Kathleen Gros, who – according to Dave – is the first participant in the so far very successful Sneaky Dragon Mentoring Program™! Kathleen has begun to publish her new graphic novel Last Night at Wyrmwood High on her website wyrmwoodhigh.com. It drops every Monday and Friday and we highly recommend that you check it out. Kathleen also has a blog where she posts her autobio comics every Wednesday. We heartily recommend those as well.

Also discussed on the show: Ian and Dave find out what’s popular with the kids; apparently Ian and Dave aren’t best friends; autobio comics are discussed and Ian and Kathleen tell us their autobio comics pet peeves(!); Kathleen has a very supportive mother – Dave not so much; everyone finds the show creepy at some point; Ian and Dave shit on Toronto; Kathleen talks about going to arty-farty fine arts school; they beat up Kathleen for being in flute choir (I mean flute choir. Come on!); walls are praised (this was my note, but I can’t remember what it means); and supernatural fantasy shows are given a quick run through: Buffy, Supernatural and Teen Wolf all get what’s coming to them.

Don’t forget about our 150th episode Question and Answer show! You ask the questions and we provide the answers is how I think it works. There is a prize draw and maybe you will win our grand prize, a Sneaky Dragon t-shirt! Every question equals one chance to win!

Thanks for listening.

  1. Excellent podcast. Excellent to see young cartoonists being featured … Not so sure about the mentoring bit. Particularly excellent references to Kathleen’s mom. (Okay, I am Kathleen’s mom, and her dad and I are super-proud of her.)

    1. Thanks for listening, Kathleen’s mom! As a fellow parent, I know it’s up to our kids how and whether they use what we give them, but it’s great to hear about such supportive parents. Kathleen’s a great kid and we’re happy to support her however we can – even though the mentoring program has now been shut down by a government agency for some…er…irregularities.

    1. There’s ample room in this mom’s heart for encouraging Dave, but adoption might complicate the inheritance thing. Hope Dave doesn’t see that as discouraging. Parenting is just so darn tricky.

  2. Sorry Ken. The standard spoiler space for TV series according to the internet is 10 years. Buffy went off the air 11 years ago. So what I’m saying is, I blame Dave for ruining the show for you. Just move onto Angel. You’ll enjoy when he becomes a werewolf in the third season.

  3. I’m not really upset. I just thought it’s funny that you two are always talking about spoilers on 10 year old shows, I thought I’d let you know it actually happened. Honestly, I never watched the show because I always thought I was too old for it. But listening to a couple guys my age talk about how great it is, I had to give it a try. So maybe by listening to your show, it gave away some of the end, but if I wasn’t listening, I wouldn’t have watched it in the first place.
