Sneaky Dragon Episode 193

Sneaky-Dragon-Episode-193

Good day, Sneakers! What better way to start the show this week than with Ian and Dave’s favourite ballet. What could it be??? A nation holds its breath! Also discussed: David and Ian saw the new Mission Impossible! What did they think? They also rank the MI films from best to least best. If you’re going to talk about the Mission Impossible films, you’ve got to talk a little bit about John Woo. His movies were nuts! Hey, Dave and Ian also saw the new Ant-Man film. What did they think of it? Well, you’ll just have to listen. Speaking of Ant-Man, because they’re Canadian, Ian has to mention that Evangeline Lilly is from Vancouver. Sorry. Speaking of Evangeline Lilly, has Dave mentioned how much he dislikes The Hobbit movies? Well, he does. Also, he isn’t so hot on Avengers 2 either. but Ian sure is; Dave once ate a gigantic burger…and some fries…and a piece of pie. And he lived. Speaking of good for you, how about some bacon waffles? Also, Ian has some thoughts about scaring kids straight; and some thoughts about scaring kids straight into ISIS; Dave discusses ghosting and journalism with friends; Ian is not for mandatory military service; and Dave has great respect for the elderly. Finally, we end the show with a little taste of Prokofiev’s “Suite One – Romeo and Juliet – Montagues and Capulets”. Enjoy!

Thanks for listening.

  1. No one click that link! It comes from a van!

I don’t know if those ISIS kids are a morality thing; in the 1930s young men came from around the world to fight in the Spanish Civil war for various reasons. Obviously ISIS isn’t the International Brigade, but for young dumb guys there’s probably a similar attraction. William Vollmann went to Afghanistan in the early 1980s to join the Mujahideen in their fight against the Soviets, and described himself as “a most lamentably ludicrous Young Man.” I don’t think these kids are much different.

Also, if you guys are considering following up Tintin with Totally Tom/Completely Cruise, a biographic journey through the Last Movie’s Star’s oeuvre and are looking for a third host (I’d settle for a series regular-type gig), let me know. Presumably in anticipation of MI:V Netflix is lousy with Tom Cruise, so I now have theories and opinions about Tom Cruise: Jack Reacher – better than it had any right to be! Cruise’s best role since Collateral! MI:III – Phillip Seymour Hoffman playing Tom Cruise playing Seymour Hoffman=Brilliant! Minority Report – If Max Von Sydow is in your science fiction movie, it’s probably crap! And so forth.

  2. I think I read about that young ISIS-to-be couple and they were under the belief that all the bad ISIS stuff was just Western propaganda.

  3. Just thought of a scam I totally forgot about… When I bought my house, it was listed by a shady site, who wanted me to cut them a check for like $1,500 for “consulting” and use their lawyer for another $1,000 or something.

Luckily, I have a family friend who has managed/bought property for 30 years and he just contacted the owner directly and had a lawyer neighbor who did the deed for $300.
