Sneaky Dragon Episode 213

Sneaky-Dragon-Episode-213

With Lezah Williamson. Happy New Year, Sneakers!  This week we ring in the New Year with Dave’s wife Lezah. That’s right. It’s a little reward for putting up with Dave day in and day out.

Also on the show this week: the annual appearance of Lil’Dave; recovering from Earthquake 2015; being scared by ghosts; waiting for Bigfoot; pussyfooting around Star Wars (NO SPOILERS); reliving St. Elsewhere; Seventies films; what kind of vegetarian was Hitler anyway; an autopsy of the annual Dedrick Boxing Day festivities; wrapping gifts – paper or bags (the answer is obvious); Lezah the teacher; and, finally, our favourite teachers.

Thanks for listening.

Here is Ian’s all-time favourite show after The Simpsons (and a show Dave and Lezah talked about when they first met each other):

Here is the Naoki Urasawa TV program where he interviews other esteemed manga artists in a really interesting format:

  1. We’re pretty frugal and environmentally-conscious around here, so these days we often save the gift bags from presents other people have given us and reuse those for Christmas and birthday presents. It’s not as if anyone says, “Hey, that’s the gift bag I got from Jane last year!” (They might think it, but they keep it to themselves.) If you loosely wrap items in tissue paper (without using tape) before putting them into the gift bag, the recipient still gets a gift-unwrapping experience. Then you can reuse both the gift bag and the paper. Tip: you can get creases of tissue paper with an iron set on low, no steam.

We also don’t write a person’s name on their birthday card envelope if we are giving it to them in person (everyone knows whose birthday it is) so the envelope can be used for mailing something else.

A Thrifty New Year to you all!

  2. As a young kid, my mom gave us gifts in the aforementioned bags and I suggested it would be better next year if they were wrapped. She did not take kindly to my suggestion.
