Jeff and Larry were in Deep Cover:

Just fucking watch it already:

Let’s have some CHiPs:

Oh, and the name of that show that Dave couldn’t remember is Fixer Upper.

  1. Hi Ian and David,

David, I think the radio series you were thinking of is X Minus One, a science fiction show from the 1950s. They adapted Bradbury, Heinlein, and other leading writers in that field. My favorite was their wonderful adaptation of Fredric Brown’s “Knock” (a very funny “end of the world” story).

Ian – Very sorry for your loss. Charlie sounds like a terrific cat. My wife and I went through much the same with our Pearl, who passed away not too long ago. Thank you for sharing what you and your wife have gone through.

A couple of shows back you both spoke of meeting comic artist Jordie Bellaire. Jordie was one of my students back at Ringling College and, after graduating, I invited her to give a talk to my illustration history class on the use of color in illustration. She was terrific and the students loved her talk.

As always, thank you for the great show!

    1. Thank you, Robert! That’s the show I was thinking of and a very good radio she it was too. (I’ll have to give it a re-listen while I work on colouring.)

Our meeting with Jordie was one of those stepping off and onto an elevator meetings, but she seemed very nice and I liked how she visibly brightened towards me when she found out I was colouring Ian and Nina’s book.

And now that I see your email address, I can thank you for your kind words about my title cards in your iTunes reviews!

  2. Big virtual hugs from me and my kitties to Ian and Pia. You gave Charlie all the love any cat could hope for and more, and August too. I’m so sorry you had to go through this twice in such a short span of time. Focus on the good memories. ❤????????❤

  3. Not only did Dynamite Pizza explode when the owner tried to clean its ovens with gasoline, after it was demolished it was replaced by a sushi restaurant named Sushi Bang which, so far, is still there.

So many hugs for you and Pia, Ian. I was thinking of your offer to share our own stories of pets and such, but all my stories are way too sad… I’m so glad you were able to help Charlie and send him off safe and secure in your arms. I wish I had had that option for my fur babies. Be good to yourselves, eh?

As always, David and Ian, I love the show. Thank you, Ian, for sharing with all of us of your Charlie’s passing. As others have written, I know the sorrow of that loss… losing a part of your family and the “hole” they leave behind is tremendous. When I have been privileged to hold a sweet pet as they were “put to sleep”, I have told each, “You’ve been a blessing every day of your life”… and it’s the truth. And those same pets have surely known love beyond measure. As your Charlie and August did.
David, thank you for leaving the quiet space open for Ian to talk when he needed to.
I think that’s a great part of the podcast, that you both give each other space to be open and express your feelings. Thank you.
