I have listened to all of your Compleatly Beatles podcasts at least twice and am starting to cycle through them again…
I recently listened to the Let It Be podcast and felt moved to write that Let It Be is actually my favorite Beatles album. At least it is my favorite “later” Beatles album. I find it impossible to have just one favorite, given that the early and later Beatles are effectively totally different animals.
Why is Let It Be my favorite later Beatles album, you might ask?? Largely for what Ian said. It has Let It Be, Get Back, and The Long and Winding Road, three seminal Beatles’ songs… And I love Two of Us… And For you Blue is so fun… And the first chord of I Me Mine is one of the greatest openers for a Beatles song… And I love the mixture of the two Paul/John contributions for I’ve Got a Feeling… And it is so clear that they are having fun with other lesser songs like The One After 909…
So what can I say… I hate to say it, but I think that Let It Be edges out Abbey Road by a hair…

PS the second time I listened to all of the Compleatly Beatles was during a week-long driving vacation trip through the south island of New Zealand. My son (age 28) was supposed to join me for the vacation, but last minute he had a deadline at work that he had to stay for, so you guys kept me company instead. I think of New Zealand and I think of you two… and the Beatles of course!

Thank you, Joe. I can’t disagree with anyone’s choice for favourite Beatles album because, you know, they’re The Beatles!
