Sneaky Dragon Episode 298

Ciao, Sneakers! Welcome to Episode 298 of Sneaky Dragon!

That means there is only one more episode left before our fabulous 300th episode extravaganza, which will take place at 7:00 PM on August 31st at 8th Dimension Comics (2418 Main Street, Vancouver, BC). Our special guest will be Steve Skroce who will have some great stories about working in comics and working with the Wachowskis and others in the film biz.

This week on the show, Ian and Dave are caught off guard; prepare the maim hole for the 300th episode; discuss their first swears; don’t dig embarrassed parents; scrawl some bathroom graffiti; fondly remember that mid-90s sitcom Fecal Matters; look for counter adages; think first thought is best thought; finally tackle the whole legal mess that is the Batman/Joker conundrum; spitball their new comic Frank Bigfoot, PI right before your ears; talk writing mysteries; decide what makes for an interesting documentary; do some eclipse tourism; reveal Ian’s new house reality show: How Did You Do It?; attempt to understand the housing market; bring out Chick Talk™ special correspondent Lezah Williamson; make dumb egg jokes; and, finally, do a Cub report.

Let us know your favourite chicken songs! My personal favourite chicken song is “Chicken” by Jeffrey Frederick. A sad tale of chicken thievery gone wrong and subsequent buckshot in ass – Dave

Please make our show better! We need your free content because ours stinks. Also, come and eat with us!

  1. Have some dinner with Ian and Dave, and, if you want, watch Sneaky Dragon being recorded. All you have to do is send us a little message that says, “I’d like to eat with you!” and Ian and Dave will treat you to an after-show meal at their favourite White Spot.
  2. Send us your story. That’s right. Just your story. If you need a prompt, Ian suggested “your secret origin” and Dave suggested “how how you found Sneaky Dragon” Please record a two to three minute story and send it to us via email (sneakyd@sneakydragon.com) or our Facebook page. Or Skype Sneaky Dragon and leave a message on our voicemail. David will add a playlist for your story as well.

  1. I enjoyed the new Chick Talk segment. Let’s hope Noise Machine does not go crazy and become David and Lezah’s nemesis, The Yolker. My favourite song with a reference to chickens in it is from Oklahoma:

“Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry
When I take you out in the surrey
When I take you out in the surrey with the fringe on top”

But mostly because I like to parody it in my head as:

“Thugs and drunks and creeps better scurry
When I take the Skytrain to Surrey
When I take the Skytrain to Surrey from the Main Street stop.”

My favourite song with the actual word “chicken” in it is the kids’ camp song (not the Irish pub song) version of “The Rooster Song” about the amazing procreative powers of an itinerant rooster.

“We had a chicken, no eggs would it lay.
My wife said, “Honey, we’re losing money,
And that ain’t funny.” No eggs would it lay.
One day a rooster came in our yard
And caught that chicken right off its guard.
It’s laying eggs now, just like it used to
Ever since that rooster came in our yard.”

It goes on in hilarious (to a kid) fashion to say what else that virile Rooster was able to accomplish.

We had some milk cows…They’re making eggnog
We had a gum tree…It’s giving Chicklets
We had a garden…It’s growing eggplant

BTW, the Irish pub song version sadly perpetuates the myth of gay rooster conversion therapy.

I agree! Read “Frank Bigfoot”? I’m all in!

Also can’t wait for “Sparks”! Coming out in February 2018? Perfect for grandson’s 11th birthday…! Of course, he’ll have to share it with me!

Chick Talk is a great segment; Lezah is a perfect expert/correspondent who can keep us all informed of Noisy’s escapades.
And, by the way, sometimes people get their money for fancy houses from their fancy inheritances. I know a few of those.

PS Thanks for the shout-out, guys! 🙂
