Sneaky Dragon Episode 323

Hola, Sneakers! Welcome to the dragon’s lair!!!

Well, when I thought of that I’d thought it would be cool, but now that it’s written down…blech.

And speaking of blech, Ian and Dave recorded the super secret personal Sneaky Dragon podcast for Jason Dedrick, last week’s contest winner and, yes, Dave’s cousin. (Thank you all for not writing in with accusations of favouritism.) It was a boozy episode and Ian and Dave may have still been a touch drunk when they started recording this episode.

It’s the only explanation for talking about how to improve our contests on air; inviting people to invite us to dinner; discussing Black Panther and the problem with franchises like Kingsmen, Spider-Man, Kick-Ass, and Mission Impossible; Dave’s concerns about Black Lightning; the podcast ending with spinning question marks; Dave defending buying DVDs; Ian’s Superbowl half-time history; Dave’s unnecessary  defense of Tom Cruise; Ian’s feelings about the predictability of modern stand-up comedy; Dave wondering if scenes need mentors to thrive; Ian’s weirdness: Dave’s computer file deletion disaster; Ian being a duplicatophile; a not-so-timely Iron Fist rant; Dave mixing up Black Lightning with White Lightning; Ian singing a wrap-up song; their not actually ending the show, but speaking for a further forty minutes with a bad parenting after show special; finding strength in podcasting; and, finally, Ian propositions listeners to rub Dave the wrong way.

Thanks for listening.

PS. We will keep you up-to-date on what Jason plans to do with his own episode of Sneaky Dragon. Probably he’ll just throw it away.

Here are a couple of video essays that help to explain Dave’s high opinion of the Mission Impossible franchise:

  1. Hey Dave – the people who make Recuva also make a program called CCleaner that you can use free. It has a ‘Duplicate Finder’ tool that you might find useful…

      1. Yeah, nothing like locking that stable door, etc… I learned about doing backups the hard way too, after losing my wife’s files one too many times!

  2. Based on this week’s podcast, I think you and your listeners should go see the Arts Club’s production of “Fun Home” which is running in Vancouver until March 10. It’s the funny and moving Broadway musical based on the personal graphic memoir of the same name by cartoonist Alison Bechdel (she of the Bechdel Test fame). The play reminded me of your podcasts in the way it jumps around in time as the lead reexamines both painful and joyful memories from her youth. The three actresses playing Alison at different ages and the actor playing her dad are fantastic. And hey, it’s about an artist drawing an autobiographical comic. Maybe someday someone will make a Tony-winning musical about you guys.

      1. Yes: Lisa’s Sad Girl comic being turned into a Broadway show! I’m looking forward to seeing “Sparks! The Musical!” one day.

  3. Well to be honest, usually I can’t relate to 90% of the things you guys talk about, but David’s Heavy Topic Of The Week here (which we’ve talked about before) is always THE most relatable thing so it’s nice hearing it when it comes up.
