Sneaky Dragon Episode 369

Hola, Sneakers! Welcome to Episode 369 of Sneaky Dragon – the three hundredth sexiest episode!

This week on the show, Ian and Dave celebrate Victorian Christmas; think Holmes and Watson is okay; think Wayne and Shuster is not okay; agree it’s simple, but not easy; give out Dave’s recipe for bernaise sauce; reveal some cooking tips; talk turkey cooking; go bread on bread; confess their odd food faves; get caught up in family dynamics; receive the gift of Pandora’s box; get taken advantage of by the movies; get proven right; have trenchant thoughts on Bird Box; get ripped off by Amazon; leave their babies outside; and, finally, discuss Nigel Gregoire’s Top 10 movie list, featuring:

  1. Groundhog Day/The Princess Bride
  2. The Fifth Element
  3. Casablanca
  4. Jackie Brown
  5. Ever After
  6. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
  7. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
  8. Serenity
  9. Mad Max: Fury Road
  10. Children of Men

Thanks for listening.

  1. Hi!
I haven’t even finished the episode yet, but I had to chip in on the weird foods. Most of mine revolve around ketchup, it seems.

Ketchup on homemade tacos probably gets me the most eye rolls, especially from the Spanish quarter of my family.

It’s also wonderful for dipping with an all-American grilled cheese sandwich (buttered Wonder Bread and Kraft American cheese slices browned in a frying pan). Definitely a nostalgic comfort food from trips to Grandma’s as a kid. Haven’t had it in ages, but I bet it’d be just as good today as ever.

Oh, and I also enjoy a ketchup dip with what I call a “North Melt” (long story), which is essentially a grilled tuna melt sandwich on sourdough with avocado.

And I put fries and ketchup in a McDonalds Filet O’ Fish, because why not?

I realize it sounds like I’m obsessed with ketchup. I don’t think I am… it’s just good on lots of unexpected things. I also love fresh tomatoes (and lots of other fresh and healthy foods), for the record!

Here’s a non-ketchup one that grosses people out: Worcestershire sauce on fried rice! It might have to be the fried rice I make, though. I don’t think there’s anything particularly odd or unusual about it, other than the specific brands of ingredients I use, but it works for me so I go with it.

And finally, though I’ve said it before: extra saucy spaghetti piled high on toasted garlic cheesy bread is amazing!

  2. Hi guys, love your chats and I have to say Ian’s story about his family not giving a damn about his artistry really made me feel great. I make YouTube videos and also very creative home movies with my kids. No one in my family cares at all and to get over this depressing situation I rely on the YouTube positive comments from complete strangers. You guys make me feel less weird. Happy new year to you both from me another grateful stranger.
