Sneaky Dragon Listening Party Ep. 14

Welcome back, my friends to the podcast that never ends until it does!

Yes, music fans, we have another great show for you this week – a show full of novelty, and by that we mean novelty music!

Wait! Don’t run away! Novelty music can be really fun! Or really horrible, depending where you stand on novelty music. But you know Dave is going to dig up some “interesting” songs you’ve maybe never heard before!

So sit back, put up your feet, and let Dave and Mary take you on another fun, musical journey.

  1. How about a additional podcast called,
“Completely Solos”, 1 show for each solo
Beatle. Love, love, love “Completely Beatles”

  2. Chris Roberts

Well, that wasn’t so bad! Some really fine songs on this side, and great conversation between the co-hosts, as always. Standouts for me were Local Rabbits, Lyle Lovett, Camper Van Beethoven and Steely Dan – all fantastic. I loved the live feel of the Ron Nagle track too, especially the raggedy backing vocals. Bowie was hilarious in ways he didn’t intend. All the others were pretty good, with one exception. Sorry, Dave, I’m Team Mary when it comes to the Beach Boys.

  3. I’m with Chris in the this-one-was-far-less-painful-to-listen-to camp, compared to side 1.
Again, I draw the line at having to listen to something like this more than once, so here are the songs that stuck out for me:
    1. Local Rabbits – great
    2. The Turtles – I like the music, just not the lyrics, but I guess that’s the point of a good novelty song, so I guess this one’s the winner
    3. John Southworth – Pumpkins – UGH!! And I really like pumpkins, usually (well, not the flavour, but I like how they look).
    5. The Lovin’ Spoonful – nope
    6. The Revillos – yes
    8. Bob Dylan – not a fan
    11. Camper Van Beethoven – I loved this! I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before.
    14. Steely Dan – usually I really, really dislike Steely Dan, but this one grew on me. Like a fungus, perhaps?
