  1. Hi,

I’m a bit late and desorginized… Just saw that I was listining currently to number 62 not the last one (allready done).

The Felt song, which sounds a lot like The Cure, the “dum, dum, dumdumdum” which is nearly the same in “Just like heaven”.

Always had the project to try to make a chain between songs which sounds alike to see if there is a hidden scheme :-).

Like Bruno Mars Locked Out Of Heaven, my favorite, in which I could not not hear The Police bass of Message In The Bottle, I think… and the first times The White Stripes sound just like Bowie (Ziggy era). And Now I just hear The White Stripes and Bruno Mars. The brain !

And I just verify, now, live, Bruno Mars himself admits that it took inspiration from The Police… I kneeeew it. 🙂

Btw Searching for a Felt/cure resemblance confirmation on gogole (which means nuts in french) I found a forum which discuss this very subject: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/song-similarities.477807/

On the subjet of ressemblance do you like what we call here bootlegs, which are more mash-ups, i think ? I quite like the work of DJ Moule (a diminutive of Mouloud, an arabic surname, but also means litterally musell).

My favorite, which may elud to you because of the reference to the french rap band NTM, Dans Ma Benz mixed with La Woman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHmsMh2eLUo

If you are intrigue here’s the complete work of DJ Moule : http://www.djmoule.com/les-bootlegs/

  2. I enjoy the listening party because ya’ll expose me to a lot of new music that I’ve not heard before. This was a particularly enjoyable episode. I really love the 60’s sunshine pop, but I absolutely went crazy for Phil Seymour’s “Then We Go Up.” What a great, rocking song! I rewinded my podcast player several times to relisten to it, and ended up purchasing an mp3 copy. Thanks so much!

Dave, I had not heard of the group Teenage Fanclub before, but I appreciate your including their song. It was really nice. I probably wouldn’t like every song having the same strumming pattern either, but I appreciate being introduced to new to me groups and songs.

    Keep the hits a-coming!

Awwww, man! Thanks for promoting good ‘ol Peanut Duck! Designing him was so much fun. You know, when the podcast is this good that only makes it harder knowing the end is in sight. I listened twice, I think this mix was one of your best. As much as I love all the 60’s and 70’s songs I went crazy for Joan as Policewoman’s “Holy City.” I had to go get that one just like Crystal had to get “Then We Go Up.” Turquoise was really good, you know how I love the Toytown stuff…

The download at MEGA is uncompressing as a .daa file, did something get scrambled?

Joan as Policewoman’s “Holy City” has all the makings of a song for an urban film intro, perfect soundtrack music!
