Episode 25! A quarter of a century. You’d think it would be worth remarking on, but Ian and Dave say nothing about it. Instead, they talk about the easy availability of drugs in Canada; the President’s chores on Airforce One – among them, bed-making. Dave tells us about his trip to the movies and Ian talks about Superman and the town of Smallville. There are a lot of “L”s in the name Smallville and a lot of “L”s in the names of people in Smallville. Dave and Ian discuss Psycho and Ian recasts it with kittens and teddy bears. They talk about children and try to figure out if children are innocent or naive – or is there any difference between those two words? Dave talks about the time Christmas was cancelled and Ian outs Santa’s terrible secret. Dave complains about the curious phenomenon of everything people say being turned into some sort of double entendre. (It’s a real problem.) Finally, the show ends with a bit of a surprise.

Dengue Fever is a dangerous, Yellow-Fever like illness spread by Mosquitoes. It’s become something of a risk in the wetter areas of West Australia’s outback- my Grandpa got it in the Kimberly as a young man.
PSYCHO- Marion Crane is not Norman’s first victim. The Psychiatrist at the end tells the cops that Norman has almost certainly done it before, and says that many of the community’s missing persons- especially young women- can probably achieve closure by the police draining the swamp.
Lila Crane was played by Vera Miles. She returned as Lila for PSYCHO 2, as a major plot point (she was trying to make Norman snap again to get him re-committed- alas, she succeeded a little too well and got a knife-ectomy.

Thanks for your comments. Unlike Ian, I was curious about who played the sister in Psycho. Psycho is a film I’ve seen a few times, but I forgot about the ending with the psychiatrist. Of course, I’ve only seen Psycho II one time (approximately when it originally came out on home video) so its every plot point is a bit fuzzy. Wasn’t Vera Miles in Paul Morissey’s Trash with Joe Dallesandro?
