Well, Beatles fans, this is it: the final episode of Compleatly Beatles. We have to say we’re a little bit sad, but also pretty proud of this series. We know some of you wanted us to keep the show going into the solo albums, but we felt like that was not the core mission of the show – which was to look at and discuss every Beatles album from Please Please Me to Abbey Road and that’s exactly what we did.
You’ll be glad to know that we answered some of your questions – hopefully all of them, but if we left someone out, we blame Dave. Speaking of Dave, he got to nerd out on some deep context, and he and Ian had some fun answering questions like favourite Beatle books, ranking the albums and making their personal Beatle playlists.
A big thank you to all our listeners and a big thank you to those of you who have written into the show over the last few months with your comments, questions, trivia, corrections, interesting links, stories, etc. We’ve loved hearing from all of you. And a big thanks to Wayne Henderson of mediavoiceovers.com for sending us some recorded feedback. It was a real pleasure to receive something extra we could use on the show (and boost our egos!). Wayne hosts five different podcasts (!) – and Ian and Dave complain about doing two – including The Packers Fan Podcast and an Under the Dome podcast. You can see his other podcasts at his website. He’s a busy guy!
Goodbye, everyone! Thank you for listening.

Hello sneaky dragoners!!! I loved your series, and I honestly going to miss you talking about the beatles, and yes your marketing worked because im going to start listening to sneaky dragon podcast.
Anyway.
You should consider continuing the podcast with the solo albums, really, that would be awesome (you dont have to cover them all.. just the good ones) or doing special episodes on the beatles like best songs and why etc.
Regards from Mexico ( a country with A LOT of Beatles fans).
Hi guys,
great show. Surprising how the time would fly. I could say what made the show work but I am sure you know that already.
Just like the last song on Abbey Road I don’t want it to end so could I suggest a couple of specials? The first would be who was the fifth Beatle. Always a source of argument. I have a friend who insists it’s Ringo! Why? Because he was 5th after Pete Best!! The second would be what would be on albums in the years 1971 to 1973. The Beatles had a stock that appeared on solo LP’s. So what would have been the LP’s for 71,72,73 and what would be the singles and maybe solo projects because they don’t fit. I reckon it takes it up to Band on the run. The last, for now, is what subject matter is there for films? This could be film part two. The whole Indian experience is surley a film waiting to be made.
I have been extolling the virtues of this pocast and have a few converts already in the town where I was born, which is Liverpool btw
Hey guys…..Great job with the podcast…really enjoyed it…also enjoying Sneaky Dragon as well…keep up the great work….and Dave…I left you a message or 2 in other places regarding The Beatles connections to The Holy Mountain film and El Topo as well…was wondering if you read them and what your thoughts were…cheers!!….
Hey guys
I mentioned on Twitter that you should of carried on with the Anthology albums. I think these would be a very interesting series to document on your pod cast, especially all the different versions of songs and your incredible knowledge of take numbers
I do hopeyou consider!
I’m at the end of my Beatles journey but my hope is that David will be asked on other podcasts like he was here with Dance to Death Afterlife … http://dancetodeathafterlife.com/d2d-012/
to talk more about them.
I wonder if he will ever post the second half of his interview with Dave? I still have it in my podcast list on the off chance it ever happens, but I’ve kind of given up on it by now.
I wonder that too. Might be worth contacting the host on his facebook page and asking. https://www.facebook.com/D2DAfterlife
Great job, guys. As a professional musician/songwriter and lifelong Beatles fan, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entire Compleatly Beatles podcast over the last several weeks. Very informative, in-depth and entertaining. I noticed that Ian brought up The Monkees several times throughout the episodes. I came to The Beatles at a very young age through The Monkees. I love The Monkees and, like many, believe they’ve gotten a bad rap. They were also four very talented guys doing something that was never done before (at least on the small screen). A podcast analyzing their history I believe would be very cool to listen to. Their origins, their manipulation by the powers that be, their eventual coup d’etat, their evolution as musicians and sitcom actors. Maybe a review and analysis of HEAD (that could prove a crazy, challenging task). Though nowhere as fascinating as The Beatles tale, The Monkees career is a very interesting story that may be worth telling via Sneaky Dragon. Thanks for your most enjoyable podcast!
Brilliant stuff guys, I’m a New Zealander living in London and this thing absolutely made my unpleasant tube journeys every morning so much more bearable. I thought the amount of detail covered was fantastic and the technical information you included was great. David, there is no way you could include too much detail as far as I’m concerned. Thanks so much for this, thoroughly enjoyable for any fan of the greatest band ever.
I have to say that I’m a tiny bit surprised neither of you chose John as your favourite Beatle in the final episode, I would kill to meet that guy..maybe the wrong way to put that.
Thank you.
Francis
Really enjoyed the podcast! Thanks so much! The flight to Singapore went by in a flash 😉
Just on the question regarding Paul’s chuckle during Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. I’ve heard that it was because school kids in Liverpool used to joke about the line ‘I must not …’ sounding like ‘I’m a snot’
Thanks so much for making this podcast! I am a huge beatles fan and have listened to this every morning well I practice my rudiments on my drum practice pad.
I’m also a Vancouver-ite and hope to see you on the street someday!
I learnt so much trivia that i can bug my friends with. Once again! Thank you very much!
Geesh, this whole Beatles series was awfully good. Terrific.
“Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Guys,
The podcast was great! Just finished the last episode and felt compelled to come by and say thanks for all of your hard work. I enjoyed it from start to finish and hope that at some point you revisit the Beatles again.
Thanks!
Darryl
Thanks, Darryl! We enjoyed it too.
Hi guys,
Just finished listening to the Beatles podcasts and really enjoyed it. I’ve never thought of listening to the Beatles music. I’m usually listening to a variety of heavy/death metal. I found it very helpful to listen to the podcast then the album. I found I “listened” to the music and enjoyed it more.
Just a shirt request that you guys can help me with, hopefully. I’m looking for autobiographies about all the bandmembers, any suggestion??
Thanks for the great podcasts and now my attentions will be turned to the sneaky dragon podcasts to amuse me.
Thanks, Steven. For a great overview of The Beatles early career, Tune In, the first volume of Mark Lewisohn’s projected three volume biography, is pretty great. We’re you looking for biographies of each individual Beatle?
If there is any biographies of each member that would be great. I feel I need to know more. Such a great band and such a history of great songs. I’m slowly building up my Beatles cd collection and would like some great reads. So anything that tells a behind the scenes look at the band would b great thNks for the reply.
Loved the whole series. Lots of details I’ve never heard before. Fantastic!
Question.
Where can I find the version of “I am the Walrus” that opens each episode?
Thanks a lot.
Hi Eric, that version of “I Am the Walrus” is by The Swingle Singers from their Beatles covers album Ticket To Ride. Glad you liked it!
Thank you!
Hello guys,
it has been a long while since I listened to your podcast about the Fab Four. For the sake of completeness, there is one last single by The Beatles, with AI and everything. (Now and Then) It would be nice if you had something to say about that. Besides mentioning how it was made, the circumstances, etc— you know, your opinions and “all that doo-doo that you do, sooo well! ” (a la Mel Brooks…). Just an idea. Bye
