  1. About the unstaffed mini-golf course in the basement of Castle Fun Park: when we were waiting at the top of the stairs, I did wonder how the attendant knew when to let the next group go down to start their round. It didn’t seem like it was when another group came up. Then when we got down there, I saw security cameras in the ceiling, like at a casino in a heist movie. I assume that’s the way they watch out for medical emergencies and shenanigans.

I like to calm down by reading a book, ideally while taking a warm bath. An inexpensive paperback is your best choice in case you get too relaxed and it slips from your grasp to a watery doom. To get myself going, I do dance exercises or head outside for some random yard work and fresh air. Technology is making it way too easy to spend hours at a time looking at a screen.

I’m writing this on Shrove Tuesday, so it’s pancakes for dinner tonight. We aren’t Catholic or Anglican, but we do like pancakes. Enjoy the approach of spring, Sneakers…or autumn, depending on the hemisphere where you currently reside.

Welcome to Lent everybody! And Dave, may your sweet tooth survive the next 40 days until the Easter Bunny brings you a basket of cherry blossoms.

Lately I’ve ditched my computer on the weekends since I usually stare at it all week long for work and head outside. If the weather is nice enough I find something to do outdoors, even if it’s just sweeping the patio or cleaning up outside. It’s relaxing to be outside for me and as I grow older I feel my body and mind need it as a getaway from sitting in front of the glowing screen of the computer. I feel like nobody can get to me while I’m outside, like a freedom from any demanding connections. If I’m not listening to music, I’ve got Sneaky Dragon on the iPhone podcast to keep me company.

I need a routine to get me going so I do the same thing every morning. Make a cup of coffee, eat breakfast, take my meds, get cleaned up and dressed, grab my computer and briefcase and I’m out the door…all in about 40 minutes. In another 30 minutes I’m at work, only then do I check all my messages and emails unless there was something texted to me beforehand.

Ian, did you mention you were watching the series “Paradise” on HULU? I’m mesmerized by the show and I went in knowing nothing, I love it and I’m almost caught up.

    Best to all!!
