Sneaky Dragon Listening Party Ep. 23

Why, hello, Party-Goers! Welcome to another great episode. We’re so happy you dropped by our glorious Stu-Stu-Studios to join us for another trawl through our music archives!

We decided to give the show a little twist as Mary takes over the hosting chair to present her very own mixtape to her very pleased dad. Mary has great taste in music so we’re sure you’re going to enjoy her choices!

And, holy cats! Did Mary and Dave ever chat up a storm this week. Well, they hadn’t seen each other for a while. Can you blame them?!?

  1. Great selection from Mary – very much looking forward to hearing the rest of this mixtape.

Totally agree that the remix of Brimful of Asha is superior to the original, though both are incredibly catchy. It was nice to be reminded of Fountains of Wayne – a terrific song from a band I ought to have checked out more before now. Always loved Rock ‘n’ roll woman – Stills really found his true voice around this time – and what a voice it would turn out to be, for a while.

Colter Wall was new to me. I really enjoyed the sound and liked the song overall, though I admit to having a problem with the term ‘honey’. I’d heard Mykonos when it came out, and found it a bit too derivative for my liking (you can sing CSNY’s Ohio along with it, through all the chord changes). This time, though, I found much to enjoy. Either I’m too sensitive, as Mr Zimmerman once said, or else I’m getting soft…

    1. Thanks, Chris! Whatever its derivations I think “Mykonos” is a fabulous song. I love songs that contain several parts as if the songwriter is saying, “What the hell, I’ve got plenty more where this came from!” (In other words, off CSNY records!)
